Unique Guerini

This is a factory custom Caesar Guerini Trap Stock with an adjustable comb and Bump-Buster combination. My customer made arrangements directly with Guerini for them to manufacture this stock specifically so that I could install an adjustable comb/Bump-Buster combination with a finished LOP of 12 5/8. And here it is!
"Received the stock for my 682 and shot the gun this afternoon. I have these comments; service was excellent; fit and finish in my opinion is better than factory new; performance, well the word exceptional is inadequate to describe this product--where did the recoil go? The reduction in recoil is unbelievable. You have earned a lifetime customer."CW

The Naked Bump-Buster

Here it is, for all who have asked, your photo of a naked Bump-Buster!
"As for movement on your cheek, it isn't noticeable like a PFS stock. You don't feel it move. As for adjustments, I've never had to do anything. Ken has a winner when he came up with the Bump-Buster." HF

"Adjustments are easy and Ken does a very good job with the installation... doesn't butcher the wood. You can spend a lot more, but I'm doubting that you will find a much better system. " AK

"I had Ken install his Bump-Buster the day before the Nationals last fall. I love it and am happy with the product... If you go to see Ken at his shop he'll let you shoot his gun before you decide." CF

"Ditto all the other comments about the Bump-Buster and Ken. I am very pleased with mine and had zero problems with the unit." CK

What people are saying about me:
"A few years ago I had Ken work on my stock. After looking at the work I immediately said I'd never let anyone touch my stocks as long as Ken is available. He has put a few adjustable combs and recoil reducers on my stocks since then that look better than factory new. If you go elsewhere you're taking a big chance!" GB
*****************************************************
"I have used Ken both personally and for the club. He is the best around this area. Quality work, reasonable price, dependable delivery, and fair BS (for a trap shooter)." RW
*****************************************************
"It sounds as if we're all members of the same choir, but I had Ken install his Bump-Buster system on my Beretta about six weeks ago. It works terrific and the wood-to-metal fit is second to none. There may be others who are good, but I heartily recommend Ken." CH

Let's hear it from the ladies...

"Ken, you know you are THE STOCK MAN for all our DIVAS!!! I show all the newbies how much better it feels to shoot that big boy 12 ga when the right fitted stock done by you is on the gun." CL

"I love my new recoil system and adjustable comb Ken put on my 682!! It's fabulous. After having had a custom stock and a PFS stock, I have something better than ever. My hits are dead center with the fit and no recoil at all. I was able to shoot 14 boxes of 20's the other day. The guys at the gun club who tried it understood too why it was so good. I never feel it move on the mounting of the gun or the second shot. It looks great and fits terrific. I'm so happy to have my beautiful wood stock back on my shotgun with Ken's Bump-Buster system on it. I only wish I had it before the World Shoot. The trip to the World Shoot was worth it to meet MrSpeedbump, Ken Rucker. Thanks again!" MS

The picture says it all...

"Hello again Mr. Rucker. I would first of all like to thank you for the absolutely wonderful hydraulic recoil reduction systems ingeniously crafted onto my 30.06 and 375 H&H. Your system has increased my confidence greatly when shooting big rifle calibers. I hope you enjoy this photo of my lioness. I was very successful on that hunt; I got 12 trophies including darting a white rhino that actually charged us and bumped me. We are leaving for Cameroon in June on a conservation/humanitarian hunt for the Bongo and Dwarf Forest Buffalo. I will be using my 375 H&H. I will keep you informed about my adventures. Thanks again! Here we have a photo of Morgan Harbison, age 16, sporting the Silver Medal he won in Bunker Trap at the National Junior Olympics last weekend, and wearing his Speedbump Stockworks hat... What you can't see in this photo is the Bump-Buster on his trap gun. But he'll be happy to show it to you anytime! He was 9th overall with a 115 (2 targets out of the finals round) and won the silver medal in the J2 age group of 125 shooters.

Ty Weaver reporting in

My young friend Ty Weaver is a shooter and a writer. He likes to share his 35 Whelen rifle, equipped with a Bump-Buster, with other young shooters on safari in Africa. This is Ryan and the Red Hartebeest he shot with Ty's rifle. Here's what Ty says in an article he wrote in the current issue of The Lakecaster from Lake Sam Rayburn:
"Adults, here is a good tip for you: Recoil reduction plays a key role in keeping a kid's interest in shooting and also plays a major part of shooting accurately for youngsters. The less recoil the less flinching by the shooter. No kid, including me, likes to be pounded by recoil. All the kids reading this know what I mean. The less recoil, the more fun shooting is! Ken Rucker has a recoil reduction system that he can put on most stocks. It's called the Bump-Buster Recoil Reduction System. He put this system on my 35 Whelen and I tested it in Africa. It is a must for all kids. The system works! My 35 Whelen shooting a 225 grain Barnes bullet recoils less than a 243! "

Terrco K-Star Stockmaking Woodcarver

Once upon a time I thought I'd branch out into custom stockmaking, but I'm 'WAY too busy working on your gunstocks to make any of my own... Here's a link to the wood carving machine I have for sale at my shop: http://www.terrco.com/kstar.php The product manual and a video are available on this link, so be patient and let it load on your screen. Mine is mounted on a heavy industrial-grade shop table. $3495 or so, depending on who hauls it.

Custom stockwork for Alec

In case you missed Alec's post on the shotgunworld forum, here's a repeat performance:
" I just got my stock back from Speedbump Stockworks with a Bump-Buster and an adjustable comb. The difference is amazing. Not only am I picking up the second target faster, I'm doing so with a better sight picture because my head hasn't been "displaced" from the recoil. I've been shooting the second bird of true pairs at earlier points then was possible before. I have the feeling this is going to be a very helpful advantage. Rather then stack my stock with plastic spacers or an 1 1/2 recoil pad, Ken had the idea of using wood and not just any wood, we went with cocobolo to get my needed 17" LOP. The recoil device is beautifully made and easy to adjust. Two thumbs up to Ken at Speedbump Stockworks!"

Shootin' the breeze

"Ken, I just returned from the range. My son and I shot four rounds of skeet. My 3200 with the Bump-Buster and adjustable comb worked great. The O/U felt more like a semi auto and though I'm still adjusting the fit I broke more birds then my average despite the windy conditions here in Wichita Falls. Thanks for the excellent work." LV

If this isn't cool enough for you, choose from more than a hundred colors and getta lotta cool in your own choice of colors... Just get it!

Gold standard

Here are a couple of shots of a Beretta 391 RL parallel comb stock with and adjustable soft comb and a gold powder coated Gracoil recoil system. The LOP on my Gracoil installation as shown is only 13 5/8". TAKE NOTE: Elsewhere you will get a minimum LOP of about 15", no less. I can do these systems on both 390 and 391 Berettas because I made some modifications to the stock attachments that DO NOT include shortening of the spring tube and spring that often lead to poor functioning of the firearm.

I'm proud to show it to all the people I meet on the road and will recommend it highly to anyone. Thanks also for your quality installation, it looks like an integral part of my K-80. They both have adjustable butt plates and my daughter has an adjustable comb on her 391. She just got a new Guerinni O/U and he fixed it right up. She also got his new Bump-Buster system and he powder-coated all the parts red, white and blue, and it is a sharp looking gun." Shooters Mom

Here's a Patriotic Bump-Buster for you...

The votes are in - EVERYBODY LOVES the red, white and blue powder-coated Bump-Buster hydraulic recoil system! It's true, folks...we're the first in the county, heck, in the WORLD to powder-coat these metallic surfaces in your choice of colors. Turns out, most of us like these colors pretty well. Call me for a quote on installing a powder-coated Bump-Buster on your particular gunstock. You might want to hurry.....
Oh, you'll need to know that there are two different Bump-Buster models. The one shown has a fully-adjustable recoil pad. The other model does not have this feature. Both models are adjustable for recoil tension and length of pull. The model shown here in 3-color powder coating is $525 installed. The same model in polished aluminum (no powder coating) is $425 installed. The basic model mentioned above is $360 for polished aluminum and $435 with optional powder coating.

Another powder coated Bump-Buster

Here's a Bump-Buster Recoil System I installed on a Jack West synthetic stock for a Remington 870. This powder coating is in flat black. We also have a gloss black powder available as well. Get one for yourself and look like the sharpshooter you are!

"I've had Speedbump work on several of my guns over the past few years, including installing adjustable combs, making a soft comb from scratch to fit an existing stock, repairing a cracked stock and installing both RAD and Bump-Buster recoil reducers. On every occasion the work was done promptly, the craftsmanship was superb and the price was very fair. I highly recommend Speedbump Stockworks for any stock work you need." LCF

Ok, I'm finally doing it...

It's true! I'm finally blogging. So many people to talk to, so little time...So here goes the new-fangled way of communicating to everybody at once.

The Bump-Buster recoil system I introduced in June is taking off like a rocket. Sales have been terrific and so have customer's comments. Will post some on this blog when I get back from my shop in San Antonio where I'm losing sleep for all the skeet shooters finding their way to my shop this weekend. Check http://www.trapshooters.com/ to see what people are saying about my work.

Call me to schedule an appointment for installation of your Bump-Buster recoil system and to ask about other gunsmithing work.
